Put the preserves or fresh fruit in a saucepan, add water and bring them to boil. Add the sugar, cinnamon and cloves and bring them boil again. In the meantime prepare the thickening: mix the flour and sour cream, add the milk in 2-3 batches and mix until lump-free. Add to the soup, bring it to boil while stirring. You may serve it both hot and cold.
